What is Terroir

Terroir is the soul of wine.
A French term, it refers to the unique interplay of soil, climate, topography, and human craftsmanship that imprints personality and identity into every bottle.
No two terroirs are identical—just as no two wines express themselves in the same way.

About the Founder

The Terroir Tribe was founded by Sneha Agarwal, whose journey with wine began in 2016 at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, where a first sip of Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc sparked a lifelong pursuit of wine knowledge and culture.

From wandering through historic Champagne houses to tasting in cellars where time seems to stand still, Sneha discovered that wine is far more than a drink. It is memory, terroir, and story, shaped by place, people, and craft. The Terroir Tribe exists to pass on that philosophy, translating lived experience into education and exploration, so others can discover their own journey with wine.

Our Philosophy

At The Terroir Tribe, we believe wine is more than a beverage.
It is heritage in a glass, a dialogue between earth and human intent, and one of the rare crafts where nature and culture create together.

We approach wine with reverence and curiosity, offering luxury without pretension, education without intimidation, and storytelling that informs without diminishing the magic. Our philosophy rests on three guiding pillars: authenticity of terroir, honouring the land and the people behind every vine; accessibility of knowledge, making wine approachable while preserving its sophistication; and celebration of culture, recognising that every bottle carries a journey across time and place.

We teach to enlighten, not to overwhelm. We taste to appreciate, not to boast. And we welcome every learner, from first-sip explorers to seasoned sommeliers, into our tribe.
